The Forte and Forte 7 both have hammer-weighted action with aftertouch, 16GB of sample memory, twice the FX power of the PC3K, 16 zones of splits/layers, powerful MIDI control, and a new UI with large color display. I was the lead sound programmer at Kurzweil R&D for thirteen years before leaving to work on Broadway and rock shows. I offer a custom sound set for my Forte customers that includes: Gig-Ready Pianos; New Rhodes and Wurlitzers with improved feel/realism; Upright Pianos including the tack piano that I created for Brian Wilson's SMiLE album; Improved KB3 organs; Improved Basses better for splits and layers; Strings based on patches I use on Broadway (marcato,fast/smooth, pizzicato, tremolo, slow and quintet/solo); Assorted Synths including two that I made for The Who's last tour

"For realism and playability, the Rhodes and Wurly programs do rival anything I’ve heard from software instruments. You get enough variations to cop any classic keyboard tune you could think of. Electric piano sounds from such elite axes as the Yamaha CP1 and Kawai MP11 are also in this league, but the Forte’s just somehow have more attitude—more Oakland, less Nob Hill—and this isn’t reducible to how much overdrive you dial in."
